The Dreaded Grocery Bag Garbage Bag Solution for Your RV

October 19, 2016 by RV Chick 1 Comment

How many of you went camping as kids and there was a grocery bag under the sink or hanging off a cabinet knob that was for garbage.  And how often did it get tipped over or knocked off and made a huge mess?  And if you were the kids in this equation, you know who would be the one cleaning it up!

If you are following in your parent’s footsteps and still using grocery bags as garbage bags to both save money and to easily fit in campground garbage cans (not to mention so you have less garbage in the RV at any one time!) things have become a lot easier.

What am I talking about?  Camco has come up with a holder that actually holds the grocery bag properly inside of a cupboard, and it was actually made just for this job!

It fits perfectly and it holds the handles in a way that they won’t easily slide off, which we know is the biggest challenge with giving grocery bags a new life as a garbage bag.  You can also double bag on this easily, for extra drippage security.

If you have the space, you can install one for recycling and one for garbage, which also means you don’t have recycling cluttering around underfoot in the RV, since still not all RV parks have recycling facilities, or you might want to save it for a trip to get your bottle deposit back.

These are also convenient for the bathroom, especially since that garbage doesn’t fill as fast in an RV normally and RV bathrooms generally don’t have the space for.  And depending on the bathroom setup, you can attach one right to the wall – being mindful if it is a wet bath style of RV bathroom!  In this scenario, you could attach it with double sided tape so you don’t damage the waterproof walls.

So if you are still using grocery bags for garbage bags, this is a win!  It only costs a few dollars for a two pack, well worth the expense when you consider how much life you get out of it, while still saving on grocery bag costs.
