If you are full-time in your RV, you know the pain of trying to rotate clothing between what you need for the current season and what you won’t need again for six months down the road. And while vacuum suction bags are handy, not everyone wants the fibers of some items being crushed or compressed for that long or they just don’t like the lumpy way vacuum bags are for storing.
For swapping seasons, I always recommend leaving one outfit for each season readily available in your RV. There might be an unseasonably cold night in July where the temperature drops down or you end up staying at a higher elevation where the temperature drops and you will wish you had a warm sweater or your wool socks handy.
Here are some great ways to store your off-season clothing (or clothes that don’t quite fit at the moment but can’t bear to get rid of). They can also be used for rotating clothing in and out, such as if you stay in your RV for six months at a time with mostly the same seasonal clothing required, but you get tired of the same old t-shirts or shorts and want to make some wardrobe swaps every few weeks or so to keep your fashion fresh.

Large Cube Zipper Containers
There are so many reasons I love these ones. First, they have a great peek-a-boo window in the front so you can see what is inside… is it sweaters? Swimsuits and tanktops? Extra bedding? Or the summer t-shirts and shorts you are looking for?
The nice shape makes these a breeze for stacking in a cupboard or locker underneath. They are a generous 19″ wide by 14″ deep and 8″ high.
And as a nice extra, they have handles on the sides, so it is easy to tote them around, especially if you are storing them in an outside locker and bringing them into the RV, or if you are lucky enough to be able to store some of your extra clothing in a friend’s or relative’s house when not needed.
These come in black (oddly named “dark black”) and a few different shades of grey (although the greys are pretty similar).
Added bonus is they store flat if you have them empty for any reason.

Underbed Storage
Do you have a narrow space somewhere in your RV that isn’t being used optimally? Such as underneath the bench seat or under a bed, or even just a bit of extra space in a storage bay where a large cube won’t fit? These zipper underbed storage containers are only 6″ high so you can really use them in versatile spaces in your RV.
The see-through top means you can easily see what is inside and there are handles on the side so you can move it around easily.
These also come in 9 different colors, from blue to pink to red, and various shades of grey.
These also store flat if needed.

Shoe Organizer Storage
Chances are pretty good you don’t have just a couple of pairs of shoes if you full time! But you don’t necessarily need access to all your shoes all the time. This storage container is specifically designed for storing shoes.
The top is clear vinyl so you can see what is inside at a glance and there are dividers between each pair of shoes and the dividers are adjustable if you have hiking boots to store alongside flats. Each organizer holds 12 pairs of shoes.

Space Saving Hangers
If you are used to buying inexpensive chunky plastic hangers from Walmart, you might not realize just how much space you are losing just to the fact the hangers are so thick and take up extra room. Your clothes are not as thick as those hangers!
The first time I swapped to thinner hangers, I was astounded at how much more closet space I gained, as they are less than half as wide as plastic hangers. Maximizing this space means you might not need to store these off-season hanging clothes, or you just have more room for swapping out your seasonal clothing…. or let’s face it, bring more!
I am partial to the hot pink ones (and yes, they are the ones I have!) but they come in purple. teal, lighter pink, red and grey .
The velvet means clothing won’t have the tendency to slide off, like what happens with plastic hangers. I also recommend getting the hangers with the dips on the top, it makes it so items with smaller straps don’t fall off the hanger when the RV is on the go.
I also prefer this enclosed style, as I can fold items over to hang them up, such as dress pants or even to use one to hold scarves.

Children’s Space Saving Hangers
Sometimes RVs have an odd-shaped cabinet or wardrobe that cannot fit full-sized hangers, or one that isn’t very deep but there is a clothes rod in it., and children’s hangers will fit in most of these tinier spaces!
So take advantage of those weird spaces by using children’s size hangers since they don’t need as deep of a space to hang clothing on.
Here are our favorite colors, but they come in more too!

Vacuum Storage Bags
If you still want to maximize storage space by storing extra off-season bedding, clothing, blankets and more in vacuum bags, this best-selling storage bag set on Amazon features 15 bags in a variety of 4 sizes to meet the needs of whatever you want to store.
As a small tip, after you vacuum seal the bag, you can let a tiny amount of air in, this will allow you to flatten the contents a bit better and maneuver it a bit more if you are stacking to store them.

Vacuum Storage Bags with Hand Pump
If you don’t have a vacuum in your RV that fits the above storage bags (which is quite common for those using a smaller hand held vacuum only) then this set of bags includes a free hand pump you can use to remove the air from the storage bags instead!

Ziploc Totes
Most people don’t realize Ziploc also carries a line of flexible totes in a variety of sizes. One appeal of these totes is that they can be rinsed off or washed by hand if they get dusty or dirty.
These totes come in traditional cube tote style as well as a huge bag with built-in handles.
They are very sturdy but the totes have a blue tint to the plastic. The cubes are stackable.

Heavy Duty Duffle Tote Bags
These are clearly inspired by the fabulous IKEA bags as they are made out of bright blue tarp material. But with zippers!
These bags have a double zipper and reinforced handles. And they fold flat when not in use. These would be great if you are storing off-season clothes in a storage locker or a relative’s house but want something easier to carry than a traditional plastic tote box.

Slim Laundry Hamper With Detachable Lid
And we all need somewhere to store our dirty laundry because dirty laundry takes up a ton of space if you are using a traditional laundry hamper or laundry basket. I love this laundry hamper because it is nice and narrow, so much different from the collapsible laundry baskets which are still pretty bulky. So if you have a narrow space in the bedroom or bathroom, it would fit perfectly.
But my favorite feature of this one is the detachable lid, so you can leave it closed or open, depending on your preference. Want to trap the smells in, then leave it closed. Damp clothing? Leave it open then.
Comes with a mesh laundry bag so you can take your laundry to the laundromat or the campground’s laundry facilities without taking the entire hamper.
This also collapses to store if you are not using it.
Hanging Laundry Hamper
If you have extra hanging wardrobe space or if you don’t use your shower often, and it has a traditional shower rod (or you can add one), this is a great hanging laundry hamper that has some great features I love.
First, there are additional side pockets, where you can toss place any clothing with special washing instructions that you need to remember to hand wash or place into a separate zipper laundry bag before putting it into the washing machine. Or you can just use the side pockets for storing laundry detergent and fabric softener.
It also has handles (and removable hangers) so you can carry the whole thing to the laundry facilities or back into the house after a trip for washing.
It comes in this grey above or black.
