For safety reasons, many newer RVs and motorhomes have induction cooktops instead of traditional burners. But the downside is that you need to have cookware that is specifically designed to work with induction stoves. Induction sets tend to be pricier than non-induction pots, since they need to have a special layer to activate the magnetic ability on the stove. However, induction cookware also works on regular gas or electric cooktops as well.
My RV has dual burners – one propane and one electric induction burner, so when shopping for cookware, induction was a necessity. And I also wanted a multi-piece nested set so they could be used for multiple meal types, and not just a single pot and single fry pan, as some RV’ers use. Induction sets that also nest can be hard to find, and they can be expensive.
For those unfamiliar with nested sets, they end up storing inside of each other into a compact footprint which saves massive space in your RV kitchen.
It means you can take many different sizes and styles with you in your RV, but without the clutter that you normally associate with having multiple cookware pieces in your cupboard… it has made me wish my cookware for my home kitchen could store this neatly too!
This is the set we ultimately went with (and purchased the colander/strainer that went with the set too as a separate piece, and the carry bag).
Magma 10 Piece Induction Nesting Set
- 10 Piece Stainless Steel Nesting Cookware Set for Induction Cook Tops
This nested set was designed specifically for RV’ers who need space saving cookware. It nests into a super small set taking up less than 1/2 cubic foot of space, which is a huge space saver when you consider how much space non-nested versions take up in your kitchen cupboard. My kitchen space is fairly limited in the RV, yet I didn’t want to sacrifice space by bringing saucepans, a stockpot and a frypan in the RV.
This set includes:
- 1-1/2 quart saucepan
- 2 quart saucepan
- 3 quart saucepan
- 5 quart stockpot
- 10″ saute / frypan
- 1 lid that fits frypan and stockpot
- 1 lid that fits saucepans
- 2 removeable handles that fit all pieces
- Handy bungee storage cord to keep it secured while travelling
This set is tri-clad with magnetic stainless steel bottoms for induction cooktops. It is all over safe and if you are fortunate to have a dishwasher in your RV, they are also dishwasher safe.
It all bungees together with all the pieces inside like this:

We also purchased the stainless colander for this set, which also fits inside. This means we can steam veggies if we don’t feel like stirfrying with oil, and it also doubles as a strainer for pasta etc. But the selling point for this was the fact it also fit inside the nested set without taking up any extra space. I love anything that saves space in my RV!

And we did get the carrying case, specifically to prevent annoying banging if something was too close to the cookset while on the go. It also can hold two extra handles, if you purchase an extra set of handles.
The case is padded with handles, which also makes it easy to move between the house and RV, if you tend to pack and unpack the RV frequently, or want a way to easily bring it into the house to run it through a sanitizing dishwasher cycle after each trip.

Here are the extra handles. We didn’t purchase them, but we might upgrade to get an extra set if we find the two isn’t enough after using the set more this summer.

Magma also makes pot protectors, but you can also use something like a paper towel or napkin to protect the pieces if you wish. Or the dollar store often has pot protectors if you manage to find them in stock.
- Protective pads for use when storing cookware
Magma also makes a non-stick version of this set, depending on your preference for non-stick versus stainless. I personally went with the stainless because it is easy to inadvertently damage the non-stick coating, and I didn’t want to deal with that in the RV!
They do not have the traditional stainless exterior, but instead a ceramic exterior, which comes in black, blue or red.
I was kind of partial to the red, since we have some red decor in the RV, but ultimately decided to go with the stainless set instead. But this would have been my second choice if the stainless version wasn’t in stock when I ordered this spring.

If you are looking for something a little less pricey, but still high quality, Magma also makes a 7 piece induction nesting set, which includes a frypan, stockpot and saucepan, along with two lids, handle and bungee cord to secure it all.

Galleyware also makes a 9 piece induction set, but their 9 pieces include less cookware pieces than the Magma 9 piece, because they count plastic lids as part of the 9 pieces, so be aware of that when you are pricing sets out…. not all 9 piece sets are created equal. For this 9 piece, you only get 3 actual cookware pieces, as opposed to the Magma’s 5 actual cookware pieces in their 9 piece set. So when you take that into account, this set actually ends up more expensive, at least when comparing cookware pieces. However, sometimes this set can get a special deal pricing, so I thought it worth mentioning.
- Works on gas, electric and induction cooktops
If you already have a non-induction nested set you love, but your new RV has an induction cooktop, there are induction adapters you can purchase. You simply put the disc on the burner, then your non-induction cookware on top, and it will activate the induction cooktop. However, it can take longer to bring to temperature and cook, but it is a good solution for cookware in the meantime.
